Delete your account
Last updated 26 October 2026 · RoostBook. This page is public: you do not need an account, or to be signed in, to read it or to act on it.
Email hello@roostbook.app from the address on the account, with “delete my account” in the subject. That is the whole process. We do not ask why.
You get a reply within 3 working days confirming what will be deleted.
The deletion is done within 30 days of your request.
If you write from an address that is not the one on the account we will ask you to write from the one that is, because otherwise anybody could delete anybody.
Take a copy first, if you want one
Settings → Export your record gives you a plain file of everything you have counted, that opens in any spreadsheet. In a browser, at roostbook.app/app signed in as the same account, it downloads; in a version of the phone app released after 26 September 2026 it opens your phone's share sheet, and an earlier version says to use the browser. Do it before you write to us: once the deletion is done there is nothing to recover. Photographs are not in that file; the pictures you chose are still in your phone's own library.
What gets deleted
If the flock is yours
Everything goes. Your email address, your login and your display name. Every flock you own and every bird in it, and on each of them: every egg count, every medicine and withdrawal, every weight, every health event, every diary entry, every clutch and candling, everything you recorded about costs and egg sales, and every photograph of your birds, including ones you replaced and birds who have gone.
That includes things somebody in your house wrote on your flock. They are part of your flock's record and they leave with it.
Every share you granted goes with it: household access is removed and every link you ever made stops working. So do the records the app kept about its own use and about where it came from, described in the privacy policy.
If you were sharing somebody else's flock
Your account, your email address and your display name are deleted, and your access to their flock ends.
What you wrote on their flock stays, because it is part of their record and not yours — the same way things written on your flock stay with you. It is no longer connected to a name or an email address that identifies you.
Held links
A read-only link is not an account and holds nothing about the person opening it. There is nothing to delete, and any link into a deleted flock stops working the moment the flock does.
What we keep, and why
Nothing that identifies you. We keep no backup copy of a deleted account beyond the short retention our hosting provider applies to its own encrypted backups, which roll off on their own.
Deleting the app is not the same thing
Removing RoostBook from your phone deletes the copy held on the device, including its copies of your birds' photographs. Your account, your record and the photographs stay on the server so you can sign back in. Write to us to have them deleted.
